I follow you from town to town
I need it
I'm better off when you're around
I mean it
Sooner or later
Things will all come around again
Sooner or later
I won't need anything
Anything at all
I walk these streets alone at night
When it hurts me
A perfect life's an oversight
You curse me
Should've known better
Than this esoteric love
Down to the letter
It don't mean anything
Anything at all
You and I
I wrestle with these guilty thoughts
And I'm losing
You're all I am I'm what you're not
Confusing
Sooner or later
Things will all come around for good
Sooner or later
I won't need anything
Anything at all
I need it
I'm better off when you're around

Nothing like? I guess it's all in the ear of the be-hearer (umm, so to speak).
The opening and a few other spots along the way certainly sound reminiscent of (or a lot like) Lucinda to me.

A softer version of Lucinda Williams

I really like this song, but due to the similarity in voices, and less grittiness here, I'd like to hear Lucinda Williams do this. I"m not sure she'd add much, but you know, the difference is in the details, and they add up.
Wait a minute! I just looked up Karin Berquist and discovered she was a character on the X-Files. Is this a coincidence?
this song feels like I'm in the wrong place to be hearing it.. I should be in an old beat-up car heading home from somewhere up country with a few friends.
Dammit.

Lucinda Williams doesn't get trashed here more than anyone else - particularly The Cowboy Junkies. Re-read the commentary on their songs.
From the RP Artists section:
Lucinda Williams average rating: 6.7

Over The Rhine average rating: 6.49
I just can't figure why Over the Rhine and the Cowboy Junkies get such rave reviews here, but Lucinda Williams gets trashed. Listening to them they have a lot in common- depressed lyrics, hard luck stories, very capable female singers, and good writing. Not to mention all the production and arranging of the not insubstantial musical talent. Go figure. Must be anti- something.
Haters.
Classism. something must explain this, and it ain't bad voice, bad singing or bad songwriting.

Pleasant like 1,765 other songs.
Sounds a bit like Frazey Ford singing.
Now that I've moved to Portland, this weekend may very well be my last chance to see them in a while—-wish I could afford to go!
You can play as much Over The Rhine as you want Bill. I never get tired of them.
A great album from one of my all-time favorite bands. Not a bad song on it.

What does she have against enunciating consonants?
She has a beautiful voice, I hate this song.
Actually, if her voice reminds me of anyone it would be Kris McCay — which RP would play some of her.

Never heard them until I saw them headline for HEM... liked HEM better of course, but Over The Rhine was good! I own a couple of their CDs now.
Great set of music, with Ani Difranco and The Decemberists...

Once again, RP introduces me to some FINE music from an artist I've never heard elsewhere. Blessings to RP!!!
I first heard this group listening online to WAPS from Akron and I've become a fan of their music, I'd love to see them live. The cut "Jesus in New Orleans" is the best on this album, in my opinion.
Thought that was quite fine. New to me.
~-9 thx for the intro
Smoking something serious, that's about it.

The stylistic excesses of this singer can become a bit much at times, but I still consider this group to be one of the more rewarding discoveries made theough Radio Paradise. Where else would I have heard any of their work, not living in Cincinnati (give praise). Several years ago, while in thrall of this album, OTR played a scarcely announced gig in a small club about one block from my house, in Berkeley. A once in a lifetime opportunity. Peter Rowan was in the audience, also taking advantage of the chance to see someone he had heard of.

Nice cover art.
I was thinking "Wow, a Lucinda song I enjoy." Don't know if it's her or not, but it does sound just like her, only slightly better.

Over the Rhine has a brand new album that's really great! Please Bill, play something from the new one.

Um, yeah, I had a long time off period from the indigo Girls for similar reasons--college suitemate just had to get hers while my roommate and I were studying on the other side of the wall. Thanks, kid. Was it good for you? It wasnt for us.
I dont suppose I can hope this will be followed by the Anniversary Song by the Cowboy Junkies?

Simply beautiful. Great album.

A classic album, no doubt.
And even better on vinyl! For those of you who think records blow away CDs (like me), this is a must have. Even warmer, more intimate, and somehow more organic on vinyl. Available from their website.
And btw, get on their mailing list - their personal emails give you a tremendous insight into this wonderful couple.
I must own this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I'm carried away & grounded by it.

I was just coming in to say that this could be a Lucinda song.
This song, and the album this song comes from, are amazing. Two discs of great songs. I'm excited because it's clear this album will be a life-long love of mine. A masterpiece.
TrÚs agreables!
I'm so glad RP is playing Over The Rhine. They are one of the best "undiscovered" groups in modern music, IMHO.
Radio Paradise RULES.

And for you who compare Karen to Lucinda--no honey, no! There's no grit or drawl or twang...her voice is clear and lovely! Hear them live sometime, if you can.
Is 97X out of Oxford? I think that's what I listened as a youth in Richmond. Great memories.

Saw OTR opening for The Samples before I had ever heard of them. They were excellent live as well.......
I bought this double cd for my wife for her birthday (what a great way to get music I want too!) and it is excellent. OTR somehow manages to top everything else they've ever done on these cds. I recommend a purchase if you like this song.
Bought this CD over the holidays - an excellent CD - highly recommended.

I thought this was something new from Lucinda Williams. Really nice.
You can never get too much OTR!
I love this band! I haven't heard from them in a while so it's great to hear them on RP! Please play more :)
Very Nice ,
Sounds a lot like something Lucinda Williams would write. She even sounds like Lucinda on this number.

Over the Rhine is an area near downtown Cincinnati, OH (my hometown) named by German settlers for its resemblance to the area in which you reside (I'm sure it's not as beautiful, though) ;)
This is a nice song. This & the other material I've heard from the new album seems to lack the edgy passion of Films for Radio, however. Still, I'd like to hear more. They're a Cincinnati band, so they're sorta neighbors.

I'm here to say I also hear the same Lucinda-esque tones in her voice.
