Just listened to this with a pair of Sennheiser headphones. Wow it sounds amazing! There is so much detail that I never picked up on before. I love this song even more than I already did!

I can't believe this overwrought, pretentious, frankenstein-put-together piece of junk. I only found the "Play Something Different" feature of the app AFTER this horrible, never-ending "music" played. I was stuck listening to this and somewhere near the middle was begging for it to end. Unfortunately it never did.
Somewhere, this piece is still going on and on ....
I love Radio Paradise but please oh please don't ever, EVER play another 20+ minute piece of music again.
Go away...

OMG - I loved WSAY. Rosary hour on Sunday; DJs able to play whatever music they happened to remember to bring to the studio the rest of the time. This was in the 70s while I attended RIT. Taught me to love and appreciate independent radio. Direct line from WSAY through WHFS to RP
I first heard this and Tales of Topographic Oceans in their entirety on a small radio station out of Rochester, New York, WSAY. They had no commercials, but 10 minutes of Hail Mary's every hour! A great introduction to off market music!

Bringing me back to the early early days, when absolutely anything and everything was possible. Yes, I know that it still is, but just not all at the same time. (Unless your consciousness is soaring or you're watching the latest Best Picture Oscar-winner.) Has been a 10 in my books for over 50 years. I imagine that it will stay that way.
It was really good until it wasn't. I wrote that in the middle of the song. Its gotten better toward the end. How'd I live all these years not ever hearing this one.
This is my favourite piece of music of all time. Yes my favourite. It cures any bad or sad mood every time if you let it.
Good Tune! But, I have to be in the right mood, to listen to it, in it's entirety!

Each time I listen to pieces like this and read comments like that ^ from listeners like Spumoni, all I can think is "I look forward to you posting the link to your Bandcamp page, so we can all hear the brilliance YOU were writing and performing when you were 24 years old.".

I DJ'd in the mid-1970s for WARP-FM, 91.7, the VOICE of Erskine College students -- in Due West, SC, now permanently off the air.
When I became the Program Manager, the required newbie orientation included: "The studio door will automatically lock if you go outside -- like, to the bathroom." Despite that, I would get three or four calls a semester from folks accidently locked out. The studio was usually quite smoky upon re-entry.

I dj'ed for my college station in a previous lifetime (WPUR SUNY/Purchase) and played very extended sets, whole albums, uninterrupted set lists, Jefferson Airplane and Firesign Theater and Steve Reiche and obsure weirdness I found under dust in the stacks of wax. Probably dreadful to listen to, but I had big fun. "We're like the American flag here at PUR, always flyin'."

I quite liked this when it was played yesterday. Strangely, the counter says it has been played Zero times in the last 30 days. I must have fallen through a wormhole to yesterday.
Such a delicious break from ordinary stuff.
Have you ever been on a long highway, where you were able to get lost in the forward movement, the straight line, allowing your mind to wander in every direction? This is the soundtrack for that.

Shutup spumonti. Bloody whinner!

I saw Floyd perform this live at a free concert in Hyde Park, London, before the Atom Heart Mother album was released. First they played all their old stuff (all very intense and mind blowing), and then an orchestra joined them on stage for this song. It was magic - of course the "sunshine" helped, but I still enjoy listening to it, despite Roger Waters having stated that it is the worse thing they ever did.
I've been listening to RP for sometime. I created an account so I could give this a "10"
While its not an uplifting tune....music is meant to "move" people. I'm 75 yrs. old.

Don't care what anyone else thinks. This is one my 10's on RP.
Melancholic, moody, mindbending, meaningful.
I'll be over there in the comfy chair with my headphones on just soaking it up for the next 20 minutes or so.

Interesting factoid. Bill just mentioned that on 9/11 after the 2nd Tower fell, he didn't know what to play, so he looped this song 12 times in a row. How cathartic.
Okay, so I love Pink Floyd, and this came out when there was enough maturation in rock and roll that the likes of Floyd and The Beach Boys could really go gonzo in their experimentation, but I must say that this is not a pleasant listen for me. In an odd way, that is good because it reminds me that even though it's easy to believe Pink Floyd could do no wrong, this cut makes it clear that there is mortality out there for all of us. LOL.
As always, RP gets kudos for also taking the risk of playing not only something that is risky, but is a very long risky -- please keep that up!
Thanks many lot for this beautiful song.. Love it..
Well, this awesome
Perfect soundtrack while waiting for the roux to bubble. Thanks!
Besides Echoes my favourite Track of Floyd ... can’t get enough.
I find it very mooooving.
Quite some work there back when such pieces were new to one's rock n' roll ears 48 years ago. Then came Tommy and Quadrophenia. Prior to this about the longest playing thing we had was In A Gada Da Vida. Jeeze I date myself. Thanks for the entire track Bill!
Ugh. This "gem" was clearly unearthed from the RP depths recently for some reason. Please rebury it for another 16 years...not even possible to NOT turn it off...wish there was a negative rating button...
This is my first ever comment on RP. And this only because RP dares to play the complete Atom Heart Mother Suite!
Congratulations guys! Keep on playing controversial stuff!
When this piece came out or I became aware of it, nobody of my friends could understand what I liked so much about it. So I listened to it only when being alone, which over the years made the piece unique and created a very special and strong relationship.
And I still love it!

This is a very fine musical experiment. It's humorous. Perhaps in its way it's commenting on the very pretentiousness you claim to loathe.
You can always leave the room. Have a shot of something alcoholically nutritious. Smoke some devil's lettuce. (I'm sure the music's authors were doing same or similar.) And lighten up.
I don't know quite what spumonti, but wasn't it half of the brand name of some pretentious, cheap-ass sparkling wine that was once or still is sold in U.S.?

In my eighth decade and have never heard this before but thoroughly enjoying it. As I listen, I hear it as I should have as a youth - totally transfixed!

This great song hasn't been played in 12 years? One of my all time favorite 'royd LP's!
7.1? How does anyone inflict this song on a friend and sleep at night?

Guilty as charged. This was great, but it gets an 8 on my scale. Like another listener said, Floyd's best stuff was from Meddle on.
I rememember this when it was NEW !
This is good music for serious grieving. Bombastic? Certain moments call for that. YMMV...
Pink Floyd didn\'t really get their shit together until Meddle. This is garbage.
one trip to the symphony will expose this ruse. Fake.

Well i have to disagree with that. Pink Floyd had some great music, but this sounds like a funeral dirge.
Where\'s the part where the choir starts singing \"fa fa fa funky ... dung!\"? I know its here somewhere...

At the time this might as well be classified under modern classical music, though it drew a much larger audience!
Nice to hear that one again. Certainly, never to be heard on Top-40. Thanks!!!
