She's wet and wild, a typical 90's child,
She makes every move they make,
She takes everything they take,
She must be a Thelma or Louise,
She must be a post-modern sleaze
Unscrew the wine, she'll throw a party line,
Stories extreme, she's such a drama queen,
Cries through the night, she choked on Marlboro lites,
Pure charm and grace, she hates her pretty face,
She makes every move they make,
She takes everything they take,
She must be a Thelma or Louise,
She must be a post-modern sleaze
Straw spun from gold, she craves a tortured soul,
All doom and gloom, she plays an open wound,
She takes every scene they steal,
She fakes every pain they feel,
She must be a Thelma or Louise,
She must be a post-modern tease.
Hahahaha!!
I may sound like a sap, but I love this whole brief period of trip-hop influenced music: Massive Attack, the dark turn of EBTG, the first Esthero, Tricky, early Hooverphonic, the first Goldfrapp and of course Portishead.
Yes, Yes and Yes
You hear Bjork here? Get yer ears cleaned.
Two different and distinct voices. Both pleasant to the ears.
i hear it, too. except i like bjork much more.
This band should not have fired Kelli. Her distinctive voice was such a huge part of what made this album so fantastic.
Oy, never trust a pimp.
Not sure what I think of the song, but I always appreciate hearing other songs by "one hit wonders". One thing I've been finding with a lot of artists, especially one hit wonders, is their smash hits are often among the least interesting songs in their reportoire. Though "6 Underground" was pretty decent.
This band had several top 40 releases. More in the UK than the US, but they were not a "one-hit wonder".
I think Kelli MADE the band. 6 Underground was a hypnotic favorite of mine. It was on many a mix tape/disc I made!
Gone in at an 8 - was a +1 just for being from Hartlepool... Don't see that too often
Nothing sappy about it, friend.
Photoshop Creative Cloud seems to still be continuing on the magic… at least for my job.
I would think most people listening here would get them; this song is only about 20 years old. Maybe not...
I give up - googles not coming up with anything for me...

I've always felt you can hear the texture of The Pentangle in this song, which makes it all the more clever from an arrangement perspective.

So what happened to the girl singer then?
Kelli Ali (nee Dayton)'s fifth solo album came out in 2013. I need to go listen to some of her stuff, I really miss this stuff (although I liked the other stuff Sneaker Pimps did without her - but nothing else is "Becoming X" that's for sure)
Spot on, my friend. Good stuff.
11+years later…here we are. Fittingly "spooky" familiar/classic RP shit with a great tune...your comment is an eerie slam-duck kicker!

This is a song that epitomizes Radio Paradise for me. I loved it the moment I first heard it here, and still do months later. It's one of those defining songs that years from now I'll hear and I'll flash to what was now and I'll smile remembering when...

Good song. I finally got this CD last week.
I like!
and thankyou for following it with the clash. ;)
Boy that was good. Thank you, Bill, for following up with the Clash.
Saw them with Kelli at 1st Ave. in Minneapolis about the same time...maybe a year or two later. It was an awesome line-up. Sneaker Pimps, Aphex Twin, Chemical Brothers!
Sounds like a great show !
She was def the better lead singer, although the album after she left is still quite good, wouldn't mind hearing some of it here.

Worst decision ever.
I put "Sneaker Pimps" into a Pandora seed and heard several of their later tracks.
They went from trendy trip-hop band to bland electro-pop.
Why have I never heard this track before? I am absolutely loving the guitar work, in addition to everything else.
Hey ho.
Great to hear this track though :)
I like this quite a bit (*7) and I agree it has Bjorkish qualities

Sweet. Such a great period of time for the genre, and for me.
