Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion
I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

So baby talk to me
Like lovers do
Walk with me
Like lovers do
Talk to me
Like lovers do

Here comes the rain again
Raining in my head like a tragedy
Tearing me apart like a new emotion
Oooooh
I want to breathe in the open wind
I want to kiss like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

So baby talk to me
Like lovers do

Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion
(Here is comes again, here it comes again)
I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

I'm with you in that minority.

The cover shows the album it's on (VH1 Storytellers). A great compilation album, not sure if it's still available, though.
Please, this is not melow

This, now.., Radio Paradise you so pull at my heart strings.

I love this version. Always felt the original was over stylized and steely. This has sensitivity, kind of like Tuck and Patti.

Original is so much better (for me)
Bit of unnecessary out of context yelling there Annie.
Next: Sweet Dreams acoustic by marilyn manson and tylor bates
Acoustic, studio, whatever. Eurythmics forever !!!❤
Saw them in Germany in Frankfurt, early 90s I think. For the last encore, Annie Lennox dropped the mic on the floor, and just sang a cappella. 10000 people absolutely still, and her voice filled the whole Festhalle.
Chills. The good kind.

After hearing it again, I put it at a 10 where it belongs.

Annie Lennox could sing the phone book and it would be pathetic junk.
Raining now in Sabadell, Barcelona (Spain). Perfect one to hear while watching through the window .
not really necessary (ehm. where is the PSD button....)
Although I prefer the "full" version, in this one, Annie's voice really stands out.  What talent!

She can break a heart with that voice for sure. Oh how I love the rain, and love this song! Isn't it amazing how some absolutely LOVE the rain while many of their friends HATE it?

love her, but this is boring
Annie Lennox could sing the phone book and it would be awesome.
Such a pretty song trashed.  Annie needs to dial it way down here.
Fantastic rendition.
I really like this version.  Solid 9.

Regardless of how you come to this song, a first time experience or a relisten from times gone by for me it comes to this.

To my mind it's one of those perfect songs to have running thru your head if you're happily blind and head over heels; regardless of if it's the very first time you've have ever truly felt that way or giving it a shot yet one more time, committing yourself in battle-scarred veteran style to the possibility that this time, with this person, it may truly be the experience you have sought your entire life.

A true discovery of Love.

For each of us it is different. For each of us it is unique. Yet for all that for each of us it is always the same; defined by a willingness to take that leap of faith. Regardless of the outcome I say good luck with it; for it certainly can make life sweet can't it?  And it certainly makes life worth the effort.

Bit shaouty there Ann.
Very very nice version!!
Annie Lennox is simply fantastic. She has an incredible voice, really knows how to sing and -to me - is one of the most attractive women in music business. Love her.

That is not always true, though it's likely the case for this song.  The era when the song was composed would determine how it would ultimately have been recorded and released.  Pretty much no one could release a song with just acoustic guitar and vocals in 1983 (or almost any time) and expect it to get very much airplay.
terrible
can you please play something with a little more energy?!! some people are cooking out here...trying to anyhow {#Daisy}
Love Annie's voice. Both versions are solid 8/9s. Don't think I've heard any of her solo work on here--some very nice ones out there (Summertime is outstanding)

Annie Lennox sure has a powerful voice - but it is limited to a narrow range and it is within that range that the songs are written for her.

If you ever have the (mis)fortune to hear Annie Lennox singing a song not written for her then you will hear that clearly - weak low and high notes but full blast on a few mid-range notes that she can hit really well.

British people place her as one of our female singing legends. Well she is a nice person with a powerful voice - but in my opinion she is not a 'great' singer for the reasons I have explained.

And before you jump in to comment, I know you don't have to have a great voice to be a great artist (Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Eddie Vedder etc etc) but she is a singer first and foremost, not a singer-songwriter, and as such she should be judged primarily on her singing ability.

This is the most stupid comment I've ever heard...  hum... read here !

Ditto, Bill- This has happened a few times over the last few weeks. Are you guys enjoying a nice vacation somewhere (other than Paradise)?
Bill:

Everything ok?  I was dependent on the stream variety during a work gauntlet... This was played less than 3 hours ago.

Or wait, is Bill now a Russian bot?
Uh, I believe Dave is playing guitar, right next to Annie.

Love this version.

Eye-rollingly annoying pretentious tripe.

You and Mohamed are the only ones - certainly!

The answer is YES!
Incredible Annie!

Promise Annie: "I kiss you like lovers do".

This and more!
Wonderful. And c'mon guys, she's a trained operatic singer. Submerge yourself in the voice, it's alllllll good.

yes
I am often really pleased when an artist releases an acoustic rendition of an already successful song. In addition to that, I love other artists' acoustic covers of amplified songs. Much of the time I finally get the gist of the lyrics and the message comes through clearer because of a simpler musical background.

I'd listen to this again

Yikes. A bad song ruined.
I've always been an Annie Lennox fan but you can do better than this for entertainment purposes.....
love it.
uuuugh.....  painfull, really - having to remember this era AND listen to a solemn, downtrodden song - yikes, man!

oh, yeah...  but it's so artistic!     { throws up in mouth just a little bit }
Damn it. So wonderful ... until she started screaming there prior to the ending.
like this version a lot

me too. Nice variation on the original.

seems either hot or cold on the dynamics, no real build-up across the song...nice singing though, its just the guitarist got a little excited fast in that one part
wow. annie lennox sure can sing.

i hate this song, but she's got a hell of a voice!
4 -> 3 and going downwards.

I looked through all the comments and found only one other negative comment about this song from someone in Texas, and it was pretty mild.  On the other hand, there are quite a few negative comments made by people from all over.  So I gotta ask, what's with you're bigoted view of Texans?

And just to be clear, I am originally from Chicago.

You've got to be kidding, right?  This bit of crap was trite (at best) when it came out.
This self-congratulatory bit of vomitus is just regurgitated crap.
Just switched back to Xmas in Frisco for another remix of "Drummer Boy"

I've never before been accused of thinking too much! {#Lol} And I "write too much" because I'm a writer. If too many words make your life difficult, stick to Twitter.  But - point taken. I'll try to limit my comments to emoticons. No promises. {#Mrgreen} {#Sunny}

And I still don't care for this song. Annie Lennox has an extensive repertoir that deserves to be explored.  As does Dave Stewart.
I like this way more than the original

We love broad generalizations.
I'm down with this version too.  It strips it down to its essence and shows that it's a wonderful song even without fancy synth lines and shoo-bop shoo-bops...

Annie Lennox has a wonderful, evocative, powerful voice that lends itself to however many instruments are layered as her backup. Acoustically, this is not one of her better songs. Still, she sang "Into the West" for the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, and it was beautiful, haunting, and made me cry.  Maybe it's just because I really hate this song - always have - that I find it obnoxious.

Now - having ripped on Lennox, let's rip on Dave Stewart. The man's a twisted, savvy genius with talent oozing from his pores (uh, figuratively speaking.)  But "Here Comes the Rain Again" is just a dismal representation of the magic he and Lennox had. I always hope never to hear this song on the radio again, but it keeps appearing, like Peeves (to those who aren't familiar with the Harry Potter books, Peeves is an obnoxious, uncontrollable poltergeist that shows up at the worst possible times, performs irritating, destructive acts, and then disappears until the next time - much like this song.)

Feels like they are really reaching a bit on this one...
Self indulgent. Karaoki.
Acoustic versions, including this one, have a tendency to suck. MTV Unplugged is to blame for ruining many good songs.

I think her voice is one of the best out there.
It is interesting, I don't really like her voice in an intimate recording like this, but she has great emotional delivery and passion for the song.  Makes it endearing even though her singing isn't great.
