You better watch what you say
You better watch what you do to me
Don't get carried away
Girl, if you can do better than me, go
Yeah, go, but remember
Good love is hard to find
Good love is hard to find
You got lucky, babe
You got lucky, babe, when I found you
You put a hand on my cheek
And then you turned your eyes away
If you don't feel complete
If I don't take you all of the way, then go
Yeah, go, but remember
Good love is hard to find
Good love is hard to find
You got lucky, babe
You got lucky, babe, when I found you
Yeah, go, just go
But remember
Good love is hard to find
Good love is hard to find
You got lucky, babe
You got lucky, babe, when I found you
You better watch what you do to me
Don't get carried away

Video for this song rocks!
I love TP but every time I hear this song I want to hear Ric Ocasek on vox.

That's what a well-curated music collection, served up by a dj who cares about listener experience, versus a commercial quota-driven algorithm delivers. LLRP!!!!

Dammit. Why do dead people compose such good music?

I feel like I've heard this song before...? where was that...?
Oh yeah, twice a day, every day for 30 years on FM radio...
Funny - I'm sick of it on FM radio, but somehow it sounds good here...

Thank you for your insights about this song, David927.
The lyrics for this song never appealed much to me, but I had never before noticed the contrast between those lyrics and the "somehow remote" quality of the musical arrangement. And that really does make the song interesting for me.
AH, Tom, we miss yas.
Still hits me from the opening notes of one of his songs, that he's 'gone'.
RIP Tom, many memories....

Tom, du wirst uns fehlen. Wir vermissen dich. Danke Danke Danke für deine wundervollen Songs!
He'll be missed. So glad I got to see him several times, most recently at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley this past summer. Also was working at the Fillmore in San Francisco when he did an extended run of several shows, all of which were fantastic.
Sad day!
Mtv 1982 - it was a vintage year, nice nose, good legs, strong finish.

sounds like he borrowed Human League's wonky synth.
Among my all-time favorite Heartbreakers songs.
Mr Petty is an awesome rocker
Good message in this Petty tune.
On the one hand, I can and do hear this EVERYWHERE else...
on the other hand, what a killer tune! Timeless!

not near toms best......
This song is good for the ears...
This need to be in heavier rotation!

My guess is that Tom Petty is a good networker/salesperson and he knows that his image carries him.
Although I couldn't figure out what it had to do with the song, I loved the video.

Ah... then muzak is what you need. Sadly, you won't find it here.
I disagree, this song is perfect muzak material. Though I only complain because the majority of music here is very good. If it was not, I would not even have as background din and would not care when they play Clear Channel favorites, the fact that I complain the few times they play so oft repeated tunes like this means that I think that RP is better than this most of the time.

Too funny! I was just going to post that this was the first video I have clear memories of watching on MTV way, WAY, back when.
And, no, they don't make "normal" videos anymore, only full production movies cut down to 2.5 minute clips.
Used to think this was the coolest video on MTV......
Does anyone even make them anymore?

I don't know why some people here get so bent when they hear a song that is actually played on the radio.
It isn't Clear Channel if the station mixes it up and drops in the occasional hit. I say bring it all on! If it's good, play it!

Now available on DVD. The 4 hours flew by for me! I had no idea how much Tom has done to further artist's rights in the industry.

You mean there was a time when you could turn on MTV in prime time and see a rock video? Amazing!
How would today's "kids" survive in a world without Road Rules and Tila Tequila?

I do like Mr. Petty, but I find this one to be kind of bland. I think I've heard it too many times on the classic rock stations.

Interesting that so many people remember the video to this one. I had the same reaction. I remember being into role-playing games at the time and trying to do some kind of science fiction setting based on the video atmosphere. Very few songs do I associate closely with a video, but the sound of this one alway seemed to fit the dystopia futuristic look of the video.
My favorite moment from the video was Tom's squint after seeing flying spaceships on one of the TVs uncovered. It always amused me. The song ain't bad either.
This is the first time I've heard this on RP. My first thought was "Oh yeah, what a great video!"

Absolutely one of the best videos ever. I mean, wasn't it inevitable that they'd stumble upon those instruments and launch into the song? And then - even more perfect - Tom gets a bit spot in Costner's "The Postman", playing himself in post-WWIII America.
old stuff play the old stuff............. :D
One of my favorite Petty videos, but not one of my favorite Petty songs.
Play \'Refugee\', that\'s the good old school stuff.
i like tom petty\'s older stuff. i always find it a little curious when rp sounds like a classic rock station, though.
blech. I never cared for this song.
Should have saved this for tomorrow - Valentine\'s Day! :p
I\'m a big TP fan but this is the one song of his that I just about can\'t stand.
Aagh, those keyboards...

I wanted the sidecar hack....back when mtv played music videos (what a novel idea...someone should try that) we got cable in 83 or 84 and this was one of the ones I liked back then...it is still a cool video.
This one was a tough one to rate. I gave it a 5 because as much as I like TP and even this song on occasion, I did not really want to hear it on RP. I still have to listen to broadcast radio on occasion and it\'s still overplayed there.
Aren\'t we being a little harsh?
Ok, all comments aside, it\'s a great \"in your face\" song if you happen to be in that mood. After all, you have to be pretty confident/arrogant to actually say this to someone. Fun song for me.
yeah. whats with the Tom Petty explosion on RP lately? yuck.
This song is just so, FM radio. Dull stuff
I\'m always put off by his voice and this title is not helping with the cheesy synthe!
