Move on. Stay focused. Piss off as few Libertarians as possible. If you're not sure why, ask Al Gore.

For starters... any time you agree with Vivek and RFK, Jr., it's likely a bad idea.
I understand the why... but if you think it's important enough to try to convince them to support you, you don't call them losers. If you watch the video... he loses his cool at the booing and then tells them (I'm paraphrasing) "if you're tired of getting 3%...you'll join me". He not only lost the room...but enabled his being booed to be played on a loop. It's just another example of the horrible decision-making that surrounds him.
Then, the nominee (who nobody knows or cares about) stands up and says...âYou are not a libertarian, Donald Trump,â he said. âYouâre a war criminal and you deserve to be shamed by everyone in this hall.â Loop item #2.
Sometimes, the best strategy is to remain silent.

I'm not saying it was a good idea, just trying to explain the reasoning as I see it.
Trump has a high enough opinion of himself and his charisma (and is so used to surrounding himself with sycophants) that he believed he could persuade the crowd to carry him off on their shoulders to victory. That evaporated as he took the stage. The little applause he got was for promising to commute Ros Ulbricht's sentence, something only a few people are convinced he'd actually do. After all he had four years and didn't.
As for the nominee who nobody knows or cares about...he's about to get a bit more media attention, most of it from right wing media and most of it negative. He's Chase Oliver, btw, our first openly gay candidate (our very first candidate—John Hospers, in 1972—was also gay, but discrete). Chase earned enough votes in the last election to deny either incumbent party a majority in the Georgia senate election and threw the election into a runoff. You may not hear from him, but you're about to hear a lot about him a the Republicans set out to destroy him by any means necessary.

Same reason Vivek Ramaswami and RFK Jr. went: they thought they might get an endorsement, or at least persuade some delegates to vote for them or their causes. I heard Kennedy's speech; he said what the crowd wanted to hear without (unlike Trump) obviously and dishonestly pandering. That was still unpersuasive.
It's also a strategic move: if they can convince lefties that we're in the tank for them then they can make us less persuasive to people who aren't right wingers. They're trying to make us go away at every level. This could have helped, and I'm really grateful to the hecklers who made it backfire.

'Go for the win instead of holding to your ideals' is not really the message I'd expect would win over the libertarians. It's not like they aren't comfortable losing elections.
To paraphrase the few mins of his speech I saw... "you're losers, you've always been losers, come vote for me and be a winner".
Why bother going?
The best thing for the Biden campaign is the trial in NY ending this week. Either way, Trump out in public is the best campaigning Biden can do.

Oh yeah, and we nominated a presidential candidate.
âHeâs more delusional than I thoughtâ: Libertarians jeer Trump during convention speech
If Donald Trump came to the Libertarian National Convention to make peace on Saturday, it could hardly have gone worse.
Within minutes of beginning speaking âand after enduring sustained jeering and boos â the former president turned on the third party, mocking its poor electoral record in presidential elections even as he appealed to them for their endorsement.

kcar wrote:I believe Supreme Court justices (perhaps not the current bunch) have already indicated that the President cannot pardon himself. The DOJ has already issued an opinion on this.
If that option had been available to Nixon, an accomplished lawyer in his youth, he would have jumped at the chance.
The only things the current Supreme Court has in common with the one that decided Roe v. Wade are the robes and the office space.
Thomas and Alito would both have resigned in the early 1970s, something they refuse to consider in this partisan court. Look at how they are dragging their feet on the "immunity" case... which is solely to prevent Trump from going to trial before November.
I agree with the notion that no one should be allowed to decide their case, but it's not something I'd trust the current SCOTUS with.
