I have slept beside the winter and the green is growing slow
I have watched you find the places hidden by the snow
I have tripped into a valley that is blue till you can see
I want you to come walk this world with me
(CHORUS)
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see
Holding on and on 'til we believe
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see
I'm not touched but I'm aching to be
I want you to come walk this world with me
And I'm sucked in by the wonder and I'm fucked up by the lies
And I dig a hole to climb in and I build some wings to fly
And I think that I could love you 'cause you know how to be free
I want you to come walk this world with me
(CHORUS)
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see
Holding on and on 'til we believe
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see
I'm not touched but I'm aching to be
I want you to come, I want you to come
I want you to come walk this world with me
And it's burning in our fingers and it's burning on the road
And I like the way you're broken and I'll like you when you old
And I see you in the garden and I feel you plant the seeds
I want you to come walk this world with me
(CHORUS)
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see
Holding on and on 'til we believe
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see

another cracker RP discovery, uplifting on a monday morning!
that chorus gets me to "come" over here to the comments to see all those with dirty minds... not as many as one would think.
she really puts the emphasis on come
she really puts the emphasis on come
Well then! If there were ever a time for the well known Donna Summer song to be played next....this might be it! And oddly enough, the song seems as loving as it does horny. Got a "rise" out of me...bumping my 6 to an 8 (almost had to go to 9 hehehe) LONG LIVE RP!!
I want you to, play 'Come together' next.

Its an RP classic. Not really sensual, but using libido like a firehose. Still, its pretty cool.

One of my all times favorites

Oddly enough this song was worming through my brain this morning and I was planning to see if I could hear it later via Apple Radio. Thanks for the synchronous response to my unexpressed yearnings.
I've caught this song on RP like 5 times so far this year. It's one of my favorites, but aside from my own CD in the 90s I've never heard it anywhere else.
this one could be retired forever and i wouldn't mind.
Wow that's good stuff! Thanks Bill
Wow that's interesting.

subtle...
Blondie is crooning, "I'll give you some head....and shoulders to lie on".
20 years later, still love it.
"I'm not touched, but I'm achin' to be." Hit me like a velvet two by four!
I never ever seem to get tired of the groove she ruts in with this hot number! Wow, I agree, it's one of the most sensual songs out there
Inspired by the Divinyls?

Heather is fantastic live, too.

This song is so 90's. She sounds as if she's working really hard to sing accurately (which she doesn't) and that is a bit annoying to my ears. Anyways it's a 7 for me since I really liked this song once.
One of the very FEW that rate a "10" from me. I LOVE Heather Nova!
I like it instantly. I had heard of Heather Nova but not really properly listened until this station turned me on to the beautiful album The Jasmine Flower. Probably time I explored more of her cattle dog.
Also I have to say romeotuma that there are many ways in which it could be suggested that the video you posted has very little to do with the music and is just an opportunity to stare at lingerie models for a few minutes...not that i'm complaining at having giving it a go.

Yeah, the double entendres pretty much bowl you over, and I won't deny the obvious - that Heather was being deliberately provocative - but the power of the melody, and the palpable elation of embarking on a spiritual expedition on the Silk Road with someone who ignites your senses, are intoxicating!
I don't get too distracted by the "risqué" lyrics... obviously, she was having some fun with this... when you write your own songs, and they're good, you're entitled to some slack - it's called "poetic license"!
But there is some deeper stuff here, too:
It's a fubar world, hopelessly distorted by lies. I suppose it has probably always been that way. If you toss out the baby with the bath water, you miss that part of what she is saying... especially the part about "I'm sucked in by the wonder and... I build some wings to fly".
But you're right... "to each his/her own"...
Doesn't do anything for me ... she is trying to use provocative language to catch attention ... which when done right is smart and clever as anything ( Wynona Big Brown Beaver) for example, however the pause after "I want to come" ... it seems so freaking obvious
Maybe I am jaded - to each his / her own ... I personally will pass on this

It was a little embarrassing to have this on loud in the coffeeshop with some sweet elderly people by me—-cuz it was so sexual; but they didn't seem to mind. No biggie, I guess.

I've been a big fan of Heather for years. This is the song that got it all started for me. The entire album is great. I got to see her live in the late 1990's at a small club in Scottsdale. Very good show. It's too bad she hasn't toured the U.S. in over a decade.
I hope she comes as well.
hands down favorite Heather Nova song

I hadn't heard this before. Something about her voice reminds me of Edie Brickell.
Also find it ironic that she wants you to come but her last name is "Nova". No va = "it doesn't go". So they would come to walk this world with her but when they got there they would find that she couldn't go. I would be pissed if it were me.

"she told me to come but I was already there"

RP should play more of her live tracks. Vastly superior to the overproduced studio albums. I blame her usual producer (which is also her husband - duh!) for overproducing her albums. Her 2003 release "Storm" was a return to form, after stints of poppy attemps. And that album was a collaboration with the fellows of Mercury Rev, and shows clearly that with proper guidance, she's absolutely great.
The live albums ('Live from the Milky Way', 'Blow' and to a lesser measure "Wonderlust") show her true talent, without the interference of her husband - er, producer. My personal favorite is "Live from the Milky Way", which is absolutely brilliant, albeit a bit short (it's an EP with only 6 tracks - but all brilliant). That's the only album I ever ran to the store to buy after hearing it on the radio (college radio, of course).
Saw her live for the 'Oyster' tour in a very small club and that was amazing. Got to see her a couple more times after that ('Siren' and 'Red Bird' tours) and that wasn't as brilliant. The sheer energy of her old tracks when played live was just amazing ("Throwing Fire at the Sun" comes to mind)...
Unfortunately, she's been overproduced and underrated (causality anyone?) in the last years...
Anyone have live Heather shows to trade? I have about 30 at (click here), would like to hear some recent stuff after her baby break...
I listen to RP because you guys dig these needles out of haystacks. Nice one.
Yet another female musician that falls victim to mediocrity and the redundancy of many. Please No more...
Maybe something real like Lucinda

This song is not doing anything for me.
What I love about Radio Paradise: they play songs like this, which have been in my playlist for years but I never expected to hear them again (or ever, in some cases) on the radio. Hooray, RP, for not letting all this wonderful music fade into oblivion just because it wasn't blessed by Clearchanel!

Hear Hear, this girl tops all the other girl singers that have come along in the past 5 years! She is an original. Much like Fiona but with more commercial appeal. Her depth and understanding, beautiful arrangements and just all around awareness need more exposure. A definite 9 just for being Heather Nova.

WOOT! This is another one of my downloads... I am SO glad to finally catch it on RP! Sing it, Heather!
A highly underrated female musician... glad to know she's getting play on RP!
Cheap and flimsy.
I'm working on the computer with RP in the background (as usual) and Nova's voice just came out of the speakers seduced my ears and made sweet love to my mind. First time I hear her music and I'm ordering her CDs presently. Very clear, well sounding artist.
Amazing song: tune, voice are great, but especially the lyrics, and musicians.
The bass is like a pile driver
And the lyrical image of reaching out to love from desolation:
And I'm sucked in by the wonder and I'm fucked up by the lies
And I dig a hole to lie in and I build some wings to fly
And I think that I could love you 'cause you know how to be free
