Stuck in that dark hole again.
Someone throw me a ladder
On which I can depend.
Someone give me a handhold
To help me ascend.
Someone give me a reason
To start up these walls once again.
Lost in those gray clouds again.
Trying to punch my way through them
As fear settles in.
Earth growing larger as I fall into a spin.
Someone give me a reason
To take on those gray clouds again.
Caught in this rip tide again.
My mouth wide open,
The sea pouring in.
Perhaps I'll just float here
And see where this journey ends.
Until someone gives me a reason
To stay clear of those rip tides again.
Someone throw me a ladder
On which I can depend.
Someone give me a handhold
To help me ascend.
Someone give me a reason
To start up these walls once again.
Lost in those gray clouds again.
Trying to punch my way through them
As fear settles in.
Earth growing larger as I fall into a spin.
Someone give me a reason
To take on those gray clouds again.
Caught in this rip tide again.
My mouth wide open,
The sea pouring in.
Perhaps I'll just float here
And see where this journey ends.
Until someone gives me a reason
To stay clear of those rip tides again.

Interesting reading the comments - almost all the cowboy junkies fans don´t like this. I don´t normally care for their sound, but this dark noisy guitar jam grabbed my ears. I think it´s pretty cool.
Awesome Junkies cut! They really cut it loose and seem to be doing their own thing a good way. The album must be from after their very restrictive contract finally ran out.
Wow! Newest post is 18 years ago. I going to guess this has not been played on RP in a long time?
I am a Cowboy Junkies fan, but have not heard this before. Can't say it's going to be one of my favorites by them.

Sprawling, noisy, and generally a mess - and I love the Cowboy Junkies. This must've come at the very end of a long night's set. 3 at best.
I normally like CJ's but this song really sucks!!!
This is a bit chaotic for me right now. I'll have to give it another chance some other time.
This is a bit jazzy for a Cowboy Junkies song. Weird. Margo's voice redeems it somewhat, but I'm still dropping my vote for the tune.
I like CJ's more than I probably should, as Margo T's vocals always seems underpowered. Hypnotic or coma inducing, close call, and not a choice for long drives. Timmins sings on a couple of Robert Earl Keen's songs that's good stuff.

Always good to hear them Cowboy Junkies. I'm always looking for a cowboy junkie. Get 'em to help me clear some brush, mend some fences.
Yeah, shoot some Horse man, uh horses....
The sound is a little muddy, not a lot of separation in this recording.... sea of mud....
This is one my my least favourite Cowboy Junkies songs, and I'm a huge fan. I had to give it a 3.
Finally some Junkies that I like!

It sounds so much less sleepy than the rest of their songs ;)
One of my favorite live acts in my decades of concert going, a very intimate show. Interesting song, would love to see them perform this one. Hell, probably could have heard it last saturday, but I had to WORK. *sob*
oh, and siami isn't with ME. :-k
tökéletes másnaposság elleni zene :iamwith:

I like this more electric Junkies....man this is a long way from the Trinity Sessions. And that is just dandy!
Disagree Chard - too much emphasis on production and not enough on Margo.
pretty rockin' for a C.Junkies song...nicely done!

Yeah, I hear that too.
A lot of other bands did this much better.
How could it be that this is the first time I have EVER heard this Cowboy Junkies song?? This is vibrant, powerful and deep. Keep it coming!

kind of a hendrix groove!

I dunno about this one. Its a little bit droning and repetitive, but there are a few interesting quirks that make it different and listenable, in an introspective and deeply moody kind of way. I dunno about it, but I vote "No" on the "play it every day for a month" mention. Maybe once a week or so...

wow... awesome...
I guess "Friend" just doesnt get it.
Yeeeeah - more of that "mindless" solo
Mindless guitar solo? Hmmmmmmm miiiiiiinndlessssss. Yeah. More, please. mmmmmmm
Whats with the unending mindless guitar solo in the background? Everything just sounds messy except for bass and drums. What an UN-Song.
I read some pretty lack-luster reviews of this album. That's what I get for listening to others opinions. That song was great. It's also pretty telling of the sad state of radio today that that was the first track I've heard off of the album.
This appeals to me in the same way as The Doors used to. It has a real nice Dionysian feel to it. Wine flask. Eyes closed. Thanks.
Hey. Nobody ever accused the CJs of being \"perky\".
Dark, the way I like my coffee, & my music.
Play this every day for months, fine with me!
Well said ZM/Herb and with Margo\'s voice to go along...how can you lose? Cowboy Junkies are a great band, and very innovative as far as I am concerned.
