I had a thought, dear
However scary
About that night
The bugs and the dirt
Why were you digging?
What did you bury
Before those hands pulled me
From the earth?

I will not ask you where you came from
I will not ask you and neither should you
Honey just put your sweet lips on my lips
We should just kiss like real people do

I knew that look dear
Eyes always seeking
Was there in someone
That dug long ago
So I will not ask you
Why you were creeping
In some sad way I already know

I will not ask you where you came from
I will not ask you and neither should you
Honey just put your sweet lips on my lips
We should just kiss like real people do

Shell Belle 😘
My son and his bride chose this as their personal wedding dance song several years ago. Watching their amazing, sweeping, dance moves made to such a beautiful song was one of the greatest highlights of my life.
Hozier always plucks some deep string in my soul. I wouldn't consider him one of my favourite artists, but all of his songs seem to have so much heart - and is that not the whole point of music?
I'd give it an 8 but I think the backup singing takes something away from the overall simplicity of the song. Still a solid 7 from me!

Comments like yours, or the usual "go listen to iHeart" or "you must love Beiber" nonsense are pretty much a waste of time also.

It's ok not to like a song on RP. It's ok that other people don't like the same music that you do. Move on.

Me, I like Hozier, like the song but the angelic backing just grates me to the point that I have to hit next.

I'm going to keep listening to RP with or without your permission.

Well said wise raptor

FM rock used to be great back in the late 60's, early 70's, Now it's just like AM was back then.

I listen to a couple of college stations, like kexp, wcbn and I listen to the current out of Minnesota and WFMU out of jersey city, give them a listen
love these simple songs that move me on a level i cannot describe

It reminds me of Joan Osborne's first album cover art. Random bits of badly cropped clip art placed on their bodies. Very strange.

Absolutely love this song. My personal favorite is Would that I

So go listen to iHeartRadio with their shitty playlists, if you can get your hands out of your ass

I like this okay, but I really love Hozier's song "Movement." We saw him last summer at the Railbird Festival* and he was excellent, and he had ALL the backing vocals that gave all the chills, but especially during "Movement," which was his penultimate song. He finished with "Take Me to Church," of course.

*makes me wonder about our RPeep railbird. Hope he's still kickin'.
Sorry. Hozier = nope.

Do zombies sing? Talk?

Love this song and this whole album is pretty outstanding... awesome.
As Bill posited last year the lyrics are about lovers alright...but zombies.
Dreamy, relaxing, lovely.
Rated 7 by Emilie, visiting us in London, but more frequently found in Michigan. pxd

I totally agree, just a young man starting out on his career as a singer songwriter with great potential.  I hope he develops his potential into success and I look forward to hearing more from him as his life unfolds.
Catchy Eldritch wails in the background always add a certain something....
Thought this was Lord Huron for a bit ...

I'll have to confess that I just don't get that one. We'll be revisiting the album sometime soon & see what else we come up with.

For what it's worth, you have all the best songs of his already up.

i hope more are uploaded. especially take me to church.

Please do not play Take Me To Church. Other joints have that one covered pretty well.

Male Enya, but maybe more to him than that?

The music of hers I've heard is generally all synthesizers with cryptic lyrics, and much more "ethereal" by design.  This guy seems more like a folk guitarist with some ethereal elements - more down-to-earth than his fellow Gael.
Very nice indeed.
local station has been playing him for awhile and he had a free show broadcast - very nice.
I like him.
Saw a little Hozier performing at Coachella on the telly.  I apologize Hozier, you do have talent.

Lovely yes, but a bit healthier than ...Mogadon. (Isn't he related to Voldemort?).
