A co-worker got a check today from the last two weeks she worked for DND. That was back in 2017! When the Phoenix Pay System went bonkers. Took Phoenix 8 years to fix that.

OK, maybe I need more coffee, but this is something I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around:

Many young people shouldn’t save for retirement...

I think this is the core: “The principle is about, ‘Should you save when you are relatively poor so you can have more when you are relatively rich?’”

What do you want it to do?  Mint is a really good budgeting tool, but unless you have a lot of different accounts you can do just as well with a lot of tools you probably already have access to at your bank. I use Personal Capital because it does better at tracking investment accounts and has better options for advice and management (all for a fee). You can't do bill pay through personal capital, but you can get notifications.

The major services are free on both platforms. They all get referral and add fees to keep their lights on, so just be aware of that. Information and tools are good, so I recommend both, just pick the features you want most.

That answers my question, thanks. My mortgage is not with my "main" bank/credit union. {#Money-mouth}

SHORTCHANGED? THE ACCURACY OF COIN-COUNTING KIOSKS IN QUESTION

It was worth a percent or two to me not to have to roll them all. My bank has a coinstar w/o any gift card options, and that makes the fee over 9%. We went to one that gave Amazon credit, so it will all get used. I may be a few cents short, but I didn't want to handle & count 13K coins.

I was going to ship it to you, but it would have cost about $2500 for freight. I also had no idea what to put on the insurance value until it was counted...

I've had the change jar around for ~10 years.  I changed jars at one time because it was getting full (that's when you should take the coins in). With the new jar it just didn't seem like there was that many coins there (this is why you don't use a 5 gallon water cooler jug to store coins). Anywho.....

The grand total
30 dollars
71 half-dollars
2515 quarters
2501 dimes
1309 nickels
6925 pennies

13352 coins, $1,079.30

I'm not sure what the rate of accumulation was, but I'm sure I lost a good bit of interest or increased value by having that sitting in the bedroom. Not to mention space, and a good strain lugging it to the store and the minor spectacle we made at the coinstar machine. It actually would have been a little more, but we took a break to let a kid that was standing there cash in his coins. Mrs. Islander gave him a healthy handful of pennies to give him a boost.

I was hoping to wait out Bernanke, but after last weeks Fed announcement, I guess it won't matter. The only choice seems to make a bold move and settle up with Obama when we meet in Hell.

In the meantime, anyone got any reasonable tips about MLP's or anything else to keep that POS POTUS from gutting me?

I've gotta spend 10K on Pops teeth, which would have been no problem if that POS hadn't destroyed the country.

This probably isn't the best place to ask, but you never know.

Well, except about Obama. We should all know about that by now.

Unhappy Bokey?

Yep.

Flash trading is just the implementation of the paradigm now that they have the tools to make it happen. Make a few pennies on a trillion transactions and it starts to look like money.  When the cost is below the return the money will move there.

In general it's just the lotto mentality. People all want to be rich and they don't care who has to suffer as long as they believe they will benefit.  Our tax system is a perfect example. But no one wants to mess with anything until they get theirs - then it will be time to slam the door behind them.  The problem is that people don't understand statistics and think that 1:100 means that if they should be winning if they just play 100 times. It's just around the corner (always - a friend's brother's girlfriend just won!), so don't change anything just yet.

The problem inherent in answering the question of how did this happen is that the bulk of, if not nearly all explanations can be neatly dismissed as CT's.

I will give the obvious answer and probably the correct one.  The systen is rigged.

It was a good plan, well executed.

How can something so big and complex be so successfully rigged without a conspiracy plan to facilitate it ?

i've seen this video, i think it was posted in economix thread too

i'm not sure of the source or the numbers, but that really doesn't matter

our system is corrupt

this gap is merely a sign

when you can buy rule makers and have rules that discriminate against your competition and/or force taxpayers to fund your outfit via the country's credit card, you'll see distortions like this

also, i think that i read not too long ago that income equality was closing the income gaps, but that the wealth gap was widening

here's a portion of an upcoming video {#Arrowd} that can and will explain what we're seeing, and offer some solutions

regards
